CON CORAZÓN
Helping with Heart
Arcatao is located 32 km east from Chalatenango at the border with Honduras in a small valley between the mountains, La Cañada and Caracol.
Con Corazón is a charitable project that supports local efforts to uplift the rural towns of Arcatao and Nueva Trinidad El Salvador.
We assist with community projects through fundraising and promotion, aligning strategic partners, as well as project management processes and budgeting. We meet regularly with project team leaders to discuss status and new needs.
FUDEMS: A Key Community Connection
FUDEMS is a non-profit based in Arcatao that promotes community health and well-being for the people of Arcatao, Carasque, and Nueva Trinidad. FUDEMS volunteer members conduct studies to identify the needs of their communities. Con Corazón helps fund these studies. If a study justifies a project to fulfill a need, Con Corazón partners with and supports FUDEMS to make the project a reality through development projects, programs, and activities.
Loosely translated, FUDEMS stands for the pro-development foundation of the communities of Arcatao and Nueva Trinidad Martyrs of Sumpul, in honor of the victims of the Sumpul river massacre which occurred on May 14, 1980 during El Salvador’s 12-year Civil War (1980-1992).
Seattle International Foundation: Our Fiscal Sponsor
Con Corazón operates as an independent charitable effort that receives fiscal sponsorship from the Seattle International Foundation (SIF). SIF champions good governance and equity in Central America through support for rule of law and the strengthening of civil society. Over the past ten years, SIF has supported 243 organizations in 81 countries and has contributed to the growth of 650 high-impact social change leaders. Given their extensive experience in the region, we consider SIF to be a perfect partner as we begin our meaningful work with the communities of Arcatao and Nueva Trinidad.
